Small-scale and artisanal mining equipment
This equipment is more efficient than basic panning and allows for the processing of larger volumes of material. Options are available for both wet (placer) and dry environments.
Sluice box: A portable sluice box, like the Alluvial Pumps Portable Gold Sluice Box for 2 Inch Pump, is a long, angled trough with riffles along the bottom. As gold-bearing material is washed through, the heavier gold settles and gets trapped behind the riffles.
Highbanker: A system that uses a gas-powered pump to send water through a sluice box positioned away from the water source. This allows for processing material from riverbanks and other non-submerged areas.
Drywasher: Used in arid regions, a drywasher works by blowing air through gold-bearing material to separate gold from lighter sediment without using water.

Centrifugal Concentrator: A piece of equipment that uses centrifugal force to separate gold and other heavy minerals.
Industrial and large-scale mining equipment
These operations require heavy machinery and complex plants to process vast amounts of ore from hard rock or deep placer deposits.
Earth-moving equipment: large excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and haul trucks are used to remove overburden and transport gold-bearing ore.
Drilling rigs: These machines are used to drill holes into hard rock for setting explosives to break up the ore body.
Crushers and grinding mills: multi-stage crushers, such as jaw and cone crushers, and rotating grinding mills (like SAG or ball mills) are used to break down large ore rocks into fine particles.
Trommel screens: Large, rotating screens like those from Multotec classify ore masses by size, separating fine slurry from coarse material.
Processing plant equipment: This includes specialized leaching tanks where chemicals are used to dissolve gold from the crushed ore. Gravity concentration equipment, like jigs and shaking tables, are also used to recover gold.
